About Science and Humanities

Science and Humanities at CMSCET is a combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English departments. These departments have well equipped laboratories as specified by Anna University, Chennai and AICTE, New Delhi.

Physics Department

The Physics department has a well equipped laboratory, to provide an experimental foundation for theoretical concepts in the lectures. It is important that students have an opportunity to verify some of the ideas for themselves. We implement the upgraded syllabus of the Anna university practical oriented experiments. The well equipped electrical, thermal and diffracted pattern of following instruments is being used.• Meter bridge
• Band gap
• Thermal conductivity-lee’s disc
• Spectrometer
• Laser

Chemistry Department

The Chemistry department has a well equipped laboratory, to provide an experimental foundation for theoretical concepts in the lectures. It is important that students have an opportunity to verify some of the ideas for themselves. Chemistry department has facilities for conducting analytical work, chemical investigation of water analysis like hardness, alkalinity dissolved oxygen, PH and analysis of metals. Instruments like• Flame photometer
• Spectrophotometer
• Potentiometer
• PH meter
• Conductivity meter etc.,

Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is an indispensable subject in the study of science and technology. The importance of mathematics in engineering is known to everybody. Without having a sound knowledge of mathematics it is not possible to become a good engineer. The Department of Mathematics strives to instill a conceptual understanding of the subject which would go a long way in the study of their respective branches of engineering.

Department of English

At CMSCET, the Department of English, apart from teaching regular curriculum of Anna University, aims to develop the language skills in each and every student by focusing of Practical Learning. The infrastructure available is highly sufficient to train the students in Public speaking, Group discussion and Presentations. Regular use of the learning centre by the students facilitates them to update their knowledge in current affairs. Special reading time is allotted to the students to enhance their creativity skills. Also, The English Club plays an important role in shaping the personality of the students by providing seminars and training in soft skills and General aptitude.

A well established Communication Lab designed with Tape Recorders, Television, Overhead Projectors, Computers, LCD Projectors, Scanner, Internet connectivity (Wi-Fi), Digi-cam, Handi-cam, Webcam etc., are available to develop the Listening, Speaking and Comprehension skills of the students.

VISION

To instill strong foundation in Basic sciences and communication skills necessary for engineers at par with global excellence.

MISSION

• To inculcate awareness on the recent applications of science and technology.
• To enhance students knowledge on basic sciences to meet the international standards.
• To enable graduates to become competent self reliant and empowered individuals.
