Food Science & Nutrition

The Department of Food Science & Nutrition is offering a degree program in B. Sc Food Science and Nutrition affiliated to Bharathiar University. The Department aims to educate the students on the importance of good health and disseminate the message to the society & globe at large. The Department strives to accomplish this goal through indoctrinating students on how nutritious food & life style influences health at molecular and population levels.  It also trains students in the development of nutritional strategies and government policies through a well-constructed syllabus. The syllabi also offers them  hands on experience in preparing nutritionally well balanced foods for good health & for diseased conditions; spreading the message to the society via community nutrition outreach programs and institutional training in hospitals & food processing units.

Eligibility for the Program

The eligibility for the course is a pass in Higher Secondary Examination with (a) Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science (b) Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (c) Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry (d) Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, (e) Physics, Chemistry, Biotech (f) Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
